Cantor internacionalmente aclamado e fundador do Movimento Tropicalia, Caetano Veloso @caetanoveloso e a atriz Paula Lavigne @PaulaLavigne abriram a porta de sua casa para receber o editor-chefe do WikiLeaks, Kristinn Hrafnsson, em apoio à liberdade imediata de Julian Assange. O jantar reuniu a elite cultural brasileira para dar início a uma campanha exigindo que a administração americana retirasse agora as acusações contra Assange.  Caetano Veloso declarou que Assange não é apenas um "prisioneiro político, mas um prisioneiro geopolítico".

                         

    Kristinn Hrafnsson fez uma palestra de 30 minutos onde explicou o atual status legal da perseguição política de Assange e onde foram discutidas idéias para a campanha. "A lei ou perseguição política com a máquina judicial é um vocabulário na memória viva do povo brasileiro". Não preciso explicar ou convencer ninguém aqui de que Assange é um prisioneiro político". A operação Condor pela CIA durante a ditadura, o assassinato e a tortura da resistência com financiamento da CIA em toda a América Latina, e a recente perseguição do DOJ contra Lula são experiências inegáveis do nível de interferência dos EUA na soberania de outros estados. Elas são as dolorosas experiências históricas e contemporâneas do Brasil. Fiquei animado com o apoio esmagador e coordenado, mas também com ações concretas".

                                

     Um dia depois de encontrar o presidente Lula, o primeiro-ministro australiano finalmente rompe o silêncio sobre Assange e declara que sua perseguição deve terminar. "Todos os olhos estão postos no Brasil e o Brasil está enviando um sinal de esperança para o mundo" acrescenta Hrafnsson. 

     João Candido Portinari, filho e curador do pintor mais relevante do Brasil, Candido Portinari, disponibilizou a integridade da coleção de pinturas e poesias de seu pai para a Campanha Don't Extradite Assange. "Portinari é considerado um dos mais importantes pintores brasileiros, assim como um destacado e influente praticante do estilo neo-realista na pintura". Portinari pintou mais de cinco mil telas, desde pequenos esboços até obras monumentais como os painéis Guerra e Paz, que foram doados à Sede das Nações Unidas em 1956. A obra de Portinari é uma expressão da vida no mundo cultural e político brasileiro".                                  

                                    

MST, Paula Lavigne, Alline Morais, Gregório Duvivier, Manuela D’avila, Caetano Veloso recebem WikiLeaks no Rio

                                 

   HBO e o Comediante, Gregório Duvivier @gduvivier @portadosfundos, que comanda uma audiência de milhões de pessoas, e já havia mencionado Assange em seu programa, expressou seu interesse em impulsionar ainda mais a causa.

   Também entre os convidados estava a candidata a Vice-Presidente nas eleições de 2018, Manuela D'avila @ManuelaDavila, que concorreu com Fernando Haddad enquanto Lula estava preso. Manuela também teve um papel na operação lava jato e vazamentos publicados pela Intercept, que mostrou o conluio entre o DOJ e o juiz Moro e o promotor público brasileiro para prender Lula.

     Chico Pinheiro, jornalista da Globo e apresentador de notícias do programa diário "Bom Dia Brasil" durante 32 anos fez questão de estar presente não só no jantar, mas também no desabafo da Associação Brasileira de Imprensa horas antes. Chico, um rosto conhecido por todos os brasileiros, afirma que Assange não é nada mais que um prisioneiro político, e todas as forças e vozes devem ser unidas para libertá-lo.

Internationally acclaimed singer and founder of the Tropicalia Movement, Caetano Veloso @caetanoveloso and the actress Paula Lavigne @PaulaLavigne opened the door of their home to receive WikiLeaks Editor in Chief, Kristinn Hrafnsson, in support of the immediate freedom of Julian Assange. The dinner brought together Brazilian's cultural elite to kick start a campaign demanding that the US administration drop now the charges against Assange.  Caetano Veloso stated that Assange is not only a "political prisoner but a geo-political prisoner".

Kristinn Hrafnsson held a 30 minutes talk where he explained the current legal status of Assange's political persecution and ideas for the campaign were discussed. "Lawfare or political persecution with the judicial machine is a vocabulary in the living memory of the Brazilian people. I don't need to explain or convince anyone here that Assange is a political prisoner. The Condor operation by the CIA during the dictatorship, the murder and torture of the resistance with CIA financing throughout Latin America, and the recent DOJ persecution against Lula are undeniable experiences of the level of US interference in other states' sovereignty. They are the painful historic and contemporary experiences of Brazil. I was heartened by the overwhelming and coordinated support, but also by concrete actions."

One day after meeting president Lula, the Australian Prime Minister finally breaks the silence on Assange and declares that his persecution must end. "All eyes are on Brazil and Brasil is sending a signal of hope to the world" adds Hrafnsson. 

João Candido Portinari, son and curator of Brazilian most relevant painter, Candido Portinari, made available the integrity of his father's collection of paintings and poetry for the Don't Extradite Assange Campaign. "Portinari is considered one of the most important Brazilian painters as well as a prominent and influential practitioner of the neo-realism style in painting. Portinari painted more than five thousand canvases, from small sketches to monumental works such as the Guerra e Paz panels, which were donated to the United Nations Headquarters in 1956. Portinari 's work is an expression of life in the Brazilian cultural and political worlds."

HBO and Globo Comediant, Gregório Duvivier @gduvivier @portadosfundos, who commands an audience of millions, and had already mentioned Assange in his show, expressed his interest in pushing further the cause.

Also among the guests was the  Vice-President candidate in the 2018 elections, Manuela D'avila @ManuelaDavila, who run with Fernando Haddad while Lula was imprisoned. Manuela also had a role in the car-wash operation leaks published by the Intercept, which showed the collusion between the DOJ and Judge Moro and the Brazilian prosecutor to jail Lula.

Chico Pinheiro, Globo journalist and news presenter of the daily show "Good Morning Brazil" for 32 years made a point of being present not only at the dinner but also in the vent at the Brazilian Association of Press hours before. Chico, a face known to every single Brazilian person, states that Assange is nothing but a political prisoner, and all forces and voices must be joined to set him free.
